| Prof. Ornella Orlandoni – After graduating with honours in Italy, she did postgraduate studies at Trinity College Cambridge, at KU Leuven, at Solvay Brussels School and at Ghent University. At the beginning of her professional career, she worked in press agencies and later at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as director in the Italian Cultural Institutes abroad, in the Directorate General for the Countries of Americas and finally in the Directorate General for Globalisation. As part of her institutional duties, she organised cultural events and negotiated cultural, scientific, and technological cooperation agreements between Italy, the USA and the countries of the South of the World, including the Italian position for the first EU-CELAC summit. During her career, she has been a consultant for IBM and Special Advisor on the Environment (AD 16 – AD 14) for the European Commission as well as winning a competition as a temporary agent (AD 12). She has also been a lecturer at KU Leuven, Rome La Sapienza and Roma Tre; member of the Board of the College of Europe and of member of the examination commissions for Italian teachers abroad. She has written articles and essays, has participated as a speaker in numerous seminars, and has collaborated with Italian and European magazines and television networks to produce dossiers on Italy’s role in the world; on European and international politics; and on culture, science and technology. At the request of the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, in 1992 she prepared a report on institutional communication, transparency, and access to information that anticipated the advent of the Internet. She also collaborated on drafting legislative projects to reform parliament and Italian cultural institutions abroad. She was a member of the Euro-Latin American Women’s Forum, the Ministry of Economic Development’s Table on Women’s Entrepreneurship, the Committee of Honour, and Habitat World’s Advisor for European Affairs between 2010 and 2014. In 2015, she set up a consultancy company that helps business relations between Europe and Latin American countriesand, in 2016, an innovative startup operating in environmental, technological, and social innovation and the creation of value chains ecosystems. In 2023, she founded CERSTE in Brussels, of which she is President. |
| Eng. Alfonso Scarano – I graduated in Electronic Engineering and am qualified to practice as an Engineer.
